Overview

American Plant Food now offers Sigma 5-3-2 Bio with added biologicals. Derived from composted poultry manure and non-plant food ingredients like humate, silica, and root-dwelling microorganisms, this 100% organic fertilizer is designed for slow release, providing gradual nutrient uptake for up to 10 weeks. Application Instructions

  • Vegetables
    • Low rate: (e.g., peas, beans)
      Incorporate 1,000 lbs. per acre 2–3 weeks prior to planting.
    • Medium rate: (e.g., asparagus, beet, carrot, melon, pepper, cauliflower, broccoli, brussels sprout, and celery)
      Incorporate 1,800 lbs. per acre 2–3 weeks prior to planting.
    • High rate: (e.g., onion, sweet corn, potato, tomato)
      Incorporate 2,000 lbs. per acre 2–3 weeks prior to planting.

 

  • Ornamentals
    • Low rate: (for heavy substrates with porosity < 60%)
      Incorporation: 30 lbs. per cubic yard of media
      Landscape: 49 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft.
    • Medium rate: (for most nursery stock and foliage plants)
      Incorporation: 45 lbs. per cubic yard of media
      Landscape: 86 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft.
    • High rate: (for light substrates with porosity > 80%)
      Incorporation: 56 lbs. per cubic yard of media
      Landscape: 124 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft.

      Medium: 19 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. (0.75 lb. N)
    • Lawns
      High: 25 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. (1.0 lb. N)

 

  • Trees and Palms
    • Rate based on 1 in. of trunk diameter (caliper). Example: For 10 in. trunk diameter (caliper), multiply label rate by 10.
    • Incorporation: Mix with soil in bottom of holes prior to transplanting. Apply 6 lbs. at transplanting.
    • Broadcast: Apply 12 lbs. at transplanting.

 

  • Golf Courses
    • Low rate: 12.5 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. (0.50 lb. N)
    • Medium rate: 19 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. (0.75 lb. N)
    • High rate: 25 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. (1.0 lb. N)
